“I heard that not only GM, but also several other major investment banks have ended up short selling LB this time?(我听说,这次不仅是GM,还有另外几大投行都下场做空LB?)”
“It is said to be. But Alice has made very comprehensive preparations. She is now financially abundant, and the founder of LB has reached an agreement with her. They are confident that they can resist this malicious short selling.(据说是。
“Wall Street is the territory of big investment banks. I told Alice that we can't take advantage of them by confronting them. We should ship as soon as possible, and you also advised Alice not to take risks.(华尔街是大投行的地盘,跟Alice说,与他们对抗,占不到便宜的,我们尽快出货,你也劝一下Alice不要冒险了。)”
“Get it.(明白。)”
I know. Also, how is Alice's situation?(…
“Alice and the founder of LB have raised their stock prices to$110 per share and acquired 91% of the market's shares. David Johnson and his team are now unable to purchase enough stocks from the market to close their positions, and this time they will have nothing to lose.(Alice和LB的创始人已经将股价拉至110美元每股并且收购了市面上91%的股票,David Johnson他们已经无法从市场上购买足够的股票平仓了,这次他们要血本无归了。)”
“David Johnson approached me, hoping to reconcile with Alice. Can you advise Alice to accept his proposal and agree to sell them some stocks to close his position? As for the price, I think$100 is reasonable.(David Johnson找到我,希望能同Alice和解。
“How could that be? It's already$110 per share now. Alice told me that if David Johnson wants to buy stocks to close his position, he needs to acquire them from her for at least$150.(这怎么可能,现在都已经110美元每股。
“Short squeeze is never a good strategy.Forcing these big Wall Street investment banks out is not beneficial for anyone.
“But that's the game rule, David Johnson has to pay the price if he loses.(可是,这就是游戏规则呀, David Johnson输了就要付出代价。)”
“You are too naive. Although Alice and the founder of BL hold a large amount of stocks, they have also borrowed a lot of funds, which have costs. If they cannot sell the stocks and repay the money at maturity, their losses are incalculable. It is better to accept David Johnson's proposal now, which is the way to survive on Wall Street.(你们太天真。
“What the fuck!(脏话。)”
She's so innocent and adorable.(上帝啊,Alice竟然妄想对抗几大投行,她真是天真到可爱。)”
Alice去世仅仅三天,利慎远在报纸上看到了一则新闻“GM acquired BL Company for$10 per share, becoming the largest shareholder of BL. The founder of BL declares bankruptcy(GM公司以10美元每股,收购BL公司,成为BL最大股东。
利慎远来到Charles的办公室,问道:“Did you anticipate early on that the New York Stock Exchange would favor these major investment banks?(您是不是很早就预料到纽交所会偏袒几大投行?)”
“Yes, but I don't know in what way.(是的,但是我不知道会以什么样的方式)”
“You know, Alice firmly believes that Wall Street, throughout her life, is a place with rules and fairness. When she realized that all of this was her illusion, she lost faith, ideals, and the meaning of living.(您知道吗?
“I am sorry for Alice's choice. However, this is still the most mature market in the world...(我为Alice的选择感到遗憾。
It only represents the interests of a few people, and it should not be respected.(不!
